As a respected Company Research Analyst (CRA), the Association has charged you to (1) create a Company Portfolio and (2) present your findings to the Association at their up-coming seminar. Two restrictions apply: choose a company large enough to gather significant data (information) and choose a company different from any other CRA.

  1. Choose a Company.
  2. Create a Company Portfolio. Find the information, organize and computerize it (or neat handwriting), and place it in your Company Portfolio.
    • Collect general information on your company using this Company Checklist as a guide. List all information in a clear format.
    • Find the company's Web site. Print out the home page.
    • Write a brief two- or three-paragraph summary of the company: how it started, what it is doing now, what its plans are for the future (if known).
    • Print out one page of the company's annual report. It can be the table of contents, mission statement, or any page showing the name of the company.
    • Collect and include four (minimum) newspaper or Internet articles on your company. Label each as to whether it is "good news" or "bad news" for the company's stocks (dated during the time of this WebQuest).
    • Print out two Analyist Ratings' sheets from Quicken.com. One now and one near the end of this WebQuest. (Go to Quicken.com, put in the Ticker Symbol and click "Go." Click on "Analyst Ratings," find and click on "Printer-friendly version" and print out.)
    • Line graph of daily stock prices (Close or Last Trade) for duration of this WebQuest.
    • Chart of each Friday's "Full Quote" information from Quicken.com for the duration of this WebQuest. When you get to the site, enter the Ticker Symbol of your company and click "Go." Make sure "Full Quote" is selected.
    • Write a brief summary of your findings following the Summary Checklist.
  3. Develop an Oral Presentation.
    • Use the data you have collected.
    • Develop more visuals as necessary.
    • Do a PowerPoint presentation, if available.
    • Plan on no more than five minutes for the presentation.
    • Be prepared to answer the stockbrokers' questions.
